Dan Savage’s “It gets better” project is intended to help gay teens (and others who are the victims of school bullying), assisting them by providing perspective and hope. While this is certainly welcome publicity, and a large step in the right direction, Mike Jan (of CFI-Ottawa and HAO) points out that:
To gay teens, growing up and getting out on their own seems an eternity when their lives are living hells. We need to improve their lives while they are in school, not just promise them a rosy distant future.

This is, once again, an excellent comment. I have sent this on to friends, who, like me, for some similar, as well as different reasons, were bullied and socially isolated, throughout our school lives.
